What do the mmHg numbers mean?

mmHg (millimeters of mercury) measures how much pressure the sock applies to your leg. Higher number = stronger compression. Choose based on your need, not personal preference — the wrong level can be ineffective or uncomfortable.

MILD 8-15 mmHg Travel, tired legs, everyday wear
MODERATE 15-20 mmHg Mild swelling, varicose veins, athletes
FIRM 20-30 mmHg DVT prevention, post-surgery, edema
EXTRA FIRM 30-40 mmHg Prescribed only — doctor supervision required
What is graduated compression and why does it matter?

Graduated compression means the pressure is highest at the ankle and gradually decreases up the leg. This is the clinically recommended design — it mimics the natural pumping action of your veins and actively pushes blood upward toward the heart.

Non-graduated (uniform) socks provide less therapeutic benefit. When shopping, look for "graduated compression" on the label to make sure you're getting effective support.

How to wear
Which length should I choose?
KNEE-HIGH
  • Most popular choice
  • Covers the calf muscle
  • Great for daily support & travel
THIGH-HIGH
  • Extended upper leg coverage
  • For circulation above the knee
  • Often prescribed post-surgery
PANTYHOSE / LEGGINGS
  • Full leg + waist support
  • Ideal for pregnancy
  • All-day wear coverage
FOOTLESS
  • Better breathability
  • Allows toe inspection
  • Wear with open-toe shoes
How do I measure myself correctly?

Measure in the morning, before swelling sets in — this ensures the most accurate fit. You'll need ankle circumference, calf circumference, and leg length. For thigh-highs, also measure thigh circumference.

Between sizes? Choose the larger size for your first pair — it's more forgiving and easier to put on. If a sock feels impossible to pull on, the issue is usually compression level, not size.

Who benefits most from compression socks?

If you spend long hours on your feet or sitting without moving, compression socks actively help prevent blood pooling and leg fatigue throughout the day.

How do I care for compression socks?

Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Air dry flat — tumble drying breaks down the elastic fibers and reduces compression over time. Avoid petroleum-based creams or lotions on your legs before putting them on, as these degrade the fabric.

Replace every 3–6 months with daily wear. Once the elastic starts to feel loose, the compression level is no longer effective.

I read others saying these

I read others saying these were tighter than others you sell. suggesting to size up. I did and they were still pretty tight. The first three days, I had to remove them in about 6-8 hours beause of the discomfort. After the third day, I was able to wear them all day. I have a recurring battle with lymphedema, but after the third day, i had reduced swelling in both legs. Not great, but noticeably better.

Why did you pick this

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
My mother had me buy these for her . She had some trouble with swelling on her right side that made her calf and knee swell to much larger than her left and these worked perfectly for her.

These are thick, but fit

These are thick, but fit well. Great with pants, but theres no hiding them during summer! Oh well, Im old and need them, so you young people can look aside. Now I understand my grandmas attitude.

These are a good, thick

These are a good, thick , strong compression sock that holds up all day. May stay with a more sheer style for summer because of the thickness. The top band is fairly tight for a larger calf, but it also doesn't fall down when lowering pants to use the restroom. They wash up very well by hand and in the front loader washer (no center agitator) with other delicate undergarments. The seam on the toe is pretty heavy and irritated my toes until I figured out where and how to position it so it didn't cause too much discomfort. The fit was as described and I'm pleased with my purchase.

Fit is good, strong compression.

Fit is good, strong compression. Length is ample for my 16 1/2" calf. I know sometimes stockings turn out too short if a wide calf takes up too much of the apparent length. And I think my legs are a little longer than average. These did look too short when they came out of the package but I had no trouble putting them on. The top band is a little narrow so I took care to not pull it up too far. I wanted the top band to lie flat. I'll give it a few hours and see, but they seem like they will stay up just fine and not roll down or bind at the top.

Edit a few months later: the top band does roll down and constrict painfully if they're on more than an hour or two. I note that the 1" wide ribbing at the top looks wider (and possibly less likely to roll) in the product photos. Taking my review down one star.

Here's the easy way to put support stockings on. I turned the leg inside out from just above the heel first, then pulled the foot on over my foot and heel. That left the stocking leg dangling past my toes. I grabbed the outside layer of the leg at my arch and instep and pulled it up. This lets the two layers of the stocking leg slide over each other without having to bunch them up. Then I just grabbed the top of the stocking and pulled it the rest of the way up. You can't put these things on like you did knee socks in high school.

Not super fun to get

Not super fun to get on (so thin and the cuff band has basically no grip to hold on to) but once they’re on you pretty much forget you’re wearing them

The thinner material fits better

The thinner material fits better in shoes but is strong and provides great compression. My legs no longer hurt all day. I measured my calves & ankles and ordered according to the sizing chart, and they fit perfectly. I am super happy with this purchase and have already ordered more!
