What do the mmHg numbers mean?

mmHg (millimeters of mercury) measures how much pressure the sock applies to your leg. Higher number = stronger compression. Choose based on your need, not personal preference — the wrong level can be ineffective or uncomfortable.

MILD 8-15 mmHg Travel, tired legs, everyday wear
MODERATE 15-20 mmHg Mild swelling, varicose veins, athletes
FIRM 20-30 mmHg DVT prevention, post-surgery, edema
EXTRA FIRM 30-40 mmHg Prescribed only — doctor supervision required
What is graduated compression and why does it matter?

Graduated compression means the pressure is highest at the ankle and gradually decreases up the leg. This is the clinically recommended design — it mimics the natural pumping action of your veins and actively pushes blood upward toward the heart.

Non-graduated (uniform) socks provide less therapeutic benefit. When shopping, look for "graduated compression" on the label to make sure you're getting effective support.

How to wear
Which length should I choose?
KNEE-HIGH
  • Most popular choice
  • Covers the calf muscle
  • Great for daily support & travel
THIGH-HIGH
  • Extended upper leg coverage
  • For circulation above the knee
  • Often prescribed post-surgery
PANTYHOSE / LEGGINGS
  • Full leg + waist support
  • Ideal for pregnancy
  • All-day wear coverage
FOOTLESS
  • Better breathability
  • Allows toe inspection
  • Wear with open-toe shoes
How do I measure myself correctly?

Measure in the morning, before swelling sets in — this ensures the most accurate fit. You'll need ankle circumference, calf circumference, and leg length. For thigh-highs, also measure thigh circumference.

Between sizes? Choose the larger size for your first pair — it's more forgiving and easier to put on. If a sock feels impossible to pull on, the issue is usually compression level, not size.

Who benefits most from compression socks?

If you spend long hours on your feet or sitting without moving, compression socks actively help prevent blood pooling and leg fatigue throughout the day.

Nurses & healthcare workersTeachers & retail staffFrequent flyersPregnant womenRunners & athletesPost-surgery recoveryVaricose veinsDVT preventionEdema & lymphedemaLong-haul drivers
How do I care for compression socks?

Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Air dry flat — tumble drying breaks down the elastic fibers and reduces compression over time. Avoid petroleum-based creams or lotions on your legs before putting them on, as these degrade the fabric.

Replace every 3–6 months with daily wear. Once the elastic starts to feel loose, the compression level is no longer effective.

Take the Quiz

Customers said these open-toe compression knee-highs provide "good compression" with a sheer, lightweight design. Many praised the comfort and effectiveness, noting "legs feel less tired" and improved circulation. However, some found sizing inconsistent—several noted they run small or short, and the material can be tight around ankles or the ball of the foot, causing discomfort.

They are a go9odnbuy for the price. The only thing I didn't like, is that I am under 5" and so they wee a little long, so they come up well above my knee. They are just a little shorter than my thigh-high ones. I just roll them over and they work. I wonder if they make them for petites

Perfect summer weight and size

Perfect summer weight and size need a little give in the sizing to compensate for shrinkage during hand washing. A little tight in the knee but I was happy with the weight for hot weather.

I’m really impressed with these

I’m really impressed with these toeless sheer compression socks! The material is high-quality, durable, and feels so smooth and dense to the touch –you can immediately tell they’re well made. They fit perfectly too! I followed the size chart, and it made all the difference: it’s so helpful that they offer such a good range of sizes. I love how they look and feel on my legs — they’re supportive but still stylish and comfortable. Also, I really appreciate that they’re machine washable, which makes them super easy to take care of. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and definitely plan to keep wearing them!

I've had to wear compression

I've had to wear compression stockings since 2014 due to a leg accident and chronic swelling and I prefer toeless compression. I've been cycling through my early purchases made 2014 through 2019--including the ones with a zipper--and they are getting pretty ratty. My favorite is NuVein, which have 15-20 compression and are sheerer, but far pricier, than this trio of compression stockings. They seem to be made by the same company and I like the increased compression at 20-30 for everyday use. I used to order small but decided to try medium and I love them, particularly since being a bit thicker they are easier to put on. Six years later, I am renewing my stash of NuVein and this economical trio in both beige and black. I place each pair in a separate mesh bag to wash and dry by machine.

These come in a three

These come in a three pack so you can always have a pair ready to go. i hand wash mine which makes them last longer and they dry quickly so they are ready to use again. They have the right amount of pressure for me but the big plus is that they are open toe. i hate other compression socks that make your toes scrunch together. these are comfortable and easy to weat

I wanted to love these.

I wanted to love these. I usually buy a different brand but was tired of Grandma Beige so I went looking for options.

Pros:
These are sheer and the color is more natural. When I first put them on this morning the fit was great, could have used another inch in length but I thought the stockings would be fine for the day.

Cons:
As others wrote, these are too short. After a few hours the stockings started shifting down and at the same time the foot area started traveling back toward the arch.

Just as disappointing as the fit is the misleading listing. These are noted as made in America and as others put in their reviews, the packaging clearly states made in China.

These are pretty good compression

These are pretty good compression socks, especially for the price. I wasn't sure about having open toes but, now that I've tried it, I think it's a good idea. Because the heel and most of the foot are covered, they get compression too and the socks do not slide around at all. But there's no extra fabric to bunch up at the toes.

I wore these for an outing and I was able to walk better than I would have without them. My pulse didn't soar like it often does. They aren't very stretchy and take a bit of effort to get on. After walking around about an hour, the socks were secure on my feet and most of my lower leg but they had slipped about an inch or so at the top of the calf.

These truly are compression socks-

These truly are compression socks- they are great but they are very sheer, however, extremely unforgiving in shape- I found them hard to put on and adjust to my comfort level for compression. Once they were on and placed correctly I felt much better about them.
The fabric MAY be a sensory nightmare for some people though so be aware they are much smoother/slippery than other compression socks I have used.

These compression socks are decent,

These compression socks are decent, similar to thick knee high pantyhose but with an open toe. They can get snagged and will run just like pantyhose. They do run a bit small and short, but do provide good compression and are comfortable. Seems a bit pricy for what you get though.

These compression socks are great.

These compression socks are great. They are knee-high and have open toes. They are easy to put on and take off. The open toes are great because they allow to wear bormal socks together with the compression socks and still feel comfortable. The package includes 3 pairs.

These open toe compression socks

These open toe compression socks are very uncomfortable for me. They are very tight around the ball of my foot, I was unable to wear them for very long. The leg part was nice and supportive, but they cut the circulation off around my toes, very tight.
