What do the mmHg numbers mean?

mmHg (millimeters of mercury) measures how much pressure the sock applies to your leg. Higher number = stronger compression. Choose based on your need, not personal preference — the wrong level can be ineffective or uncomfortable.

MILD 8-15 mmHg Travel, tired legs, everyday wear
MODERATE 15-20 mmHg Mild swelling, varicose veins, athletes
FIRM 20-30 mmHg DVT prevention, post-surgery, edema
EXTRA FIRM 30-40 mmHg Prescribed only — doctor supervision required
What is graduated compression and why does it matter?

Graduated compression means the pressure is highest at the ankle and gradually decreases up the leg. This is the clinically recommended design — it mimics the natural pumping action of your veins and actively pushes blood upward toward the heart.

Non-graduated (uniform) socks provide less therapeutic benefit. When shopping, look for "graduated compression" on the label to make sure you're getting effective support.

How to wear
Which length should I choose?
KNEE-HIGH
  • Most popular choice
  • Covers the calf muscle
  • Great for daily support & travel
THIGH-HIGH
  • Extended upper leg coverage
  • For circulation above the knee
  • Often prescribed post-surgery
PANTYHOSE / LEGGINGS
  • Full leg + waist support
  • Ideal for pregnancy
  • All-day wear coverage
FOOTLESS
  • Better breathability
  • Allows toe inspection
  • Wear with open-toe shoes
How do I measure myself correctly?

Measure in the morning, before swelling sets in — this ensures the most accurate fit. You'll need ankle circumference, calf circumference, and leg length. For thigh-highs, also measure thigh circumference.

Between sizes? Choose the larger size for your first pair — it's more forgiving and easier to put on. If a sock feels impossible to pull on, the issue is usually compression level, not size.

Who benefits most from compression socks?

If you spend long hours on your feet or sitting without moving, compression socks actively help prevent blood pooling and leg fatigue throughout the day.

How do I care for compression socks?

Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Air dry flat — tumble drying breaks down the elastic fibers and reduces compression over time. Avoid petroleum-based creams or lotions on your legs before putting them on, as these degrade the fabric.

Replace every 3–6 months with daily wear. Once the elastic starts to feel loose, the compression level is no longer effective.

Good Support So so Fit

This calf sleeve gave me good support, but was extremely long. To compensate, I had to wear the bottom end of the sleeve around the midsole of my foot. I am ok with this because I am trying a calf sleeve instead of the full stocking that I usually wear, I have found the full stocking compresses my toe area to much causing some numbness. I feel a disadvantage of wearing the calf sleeve around the foot due to it's length is that it may not wear well in the heel area. Remains to be seen.

Very happy with these Compression Sleeves

Over all - some of the best fitting compression sleeves I have ever tried. Comfortable. Not bad to wear in the summer heat. The top elastic is a little tight. Everything else fits great.

These sleeves work well for the most part.

The cuff above the ankle is too tight leaving depressed rings in a region where I don't otherwise have any swelling.

I Love These

I wear them when walking around the house barefoot. When I put on shoes, I add socks or Ped-type foot covers, depending on the shoe. A tip: while these are meant to be pulled above the ankle, I cover most of my foot with them, just leaving the toes uncovered. They are heavy duty, so don't snag when I wear them around the house without shoes. So easy to pull on, whereas the open toe compression hose are tough to pull on. After ripping a couple of pairs in the heel while trying to get them on, I moved to the sleeves. A far better solution!

good purchase

These sleeves are good in the summer under lightweight slacks so I can wear sandals. They're also good for working out at the gym. good fit

firm but long

I like the sleeve. It is well manufactured and sturdy. Yes, as all the reviews state, it is long. I don't pull the sleeve up as much as get the lower edge in place at the ankle, then slowly and gently pull the sleeve up the calf. I would order it again.. Just wish it came shorter... I am 5-6"

Very Comfortable

This was my second order of these compression sleeves and I think they are wonderful. They are easy to put on and take off, they cover part of the foot, stay up nicely and are more comfortable than the toeless hose.

Perfect fit

These compression sleeves are the perfect solution for support while hiking. The sleeves give support to my calves while my feet have complete freedom in my hiking shoes. The tops of the sleeves are a bit snug but the rest of the sleeve fits perfectly.

Comfortable

Though they work better for me if I wear them from the arches of my feet to my knees, they are more flexible and durable than the toeless stockings I was using before.

Good item

Had trouble with the heels wearing out in the open toe styles I purchased before, and sometimes even had pain in my instep from the elastic band, and this style seems to avoid these problems. Very satisfied with the choice.

Love them but got a run will send pic

Socks fit well; feel like they help. My second pair (one with toe, one sleeves). One of legs on sleeves developed a run. I'll send pic.

Long but I make them work

These are my go-to compression stockings, which I wear at all times other than sleeping and showering. They are very long (I'm 5'4"). But, I just wear them over my heel. They're basically like the footless stockings, which I can't wear because those are too tall for my legs and hurt the back of my knees. I do wish they came in a short length, but I make them work nonetheless.

Too long

Compression is good but they are much longer than shown. They go from my knee all the way to the start of my toes.

Nice change

After consulting with my doctor, decided to give these a try. It was a nice change from having my feet always covered. My doctor did warn me to make sure I wore shoes with them, due to possibly making the feet swell. I had minimal swelling in one ankle. They will be nice for the summer.

Perfect fit; excellent competitive price. Super service.

Nice Quality

Nice quality fabric. I expect they will last a good while. I only wish they came in 'Short' as they are too long for my leg length and I have to leave the bottom couple inches stretched over my heel.

Compression Calf Sleeves That Fit

Excellent true to size and compression sleeve. Suitable for plantars fasciitis as it does not squeeze the heal as a stocking sometimes does.

Love these in black

I've ordered both the tan (30-40 mmHg) and black (20-30 mmHg). I prefer the black ones over the tan bc of the color. I hope some day they make the black ones in 30-40 mmHg. Both are very comfortable as i prefer to go barefooted. For people with long legs, they are great!

So glad I tried these!

I have very bad varicose veins and support stockings are a must. This is easy in the winter when it's cold but in the summer I just give up since they are way too hot. This calf sleeve allows you to wear sandals and flip flops basically making it bearable to wear support hose in summer! They are a little tight at the top of the calf but this seems to be the case with all compression knee highs.

Excellent

These were perfect, and a great price. If anything could be different, the manufacturer might consider another measurement, that of height of the leg from the ankle to the knee. I am very short, therefore these were a bit too long. But nevermind, I just cut them off, and the elastic still held and the compression still worked. The company is also excellent, and I appreciated the help they provided.

Not what I expected

I have large calves due to previous blood clots, so I ordered the 2xl stockings after measuring the largest part of calf. The stockngs were way too long! They either cover my foot or come up past my knee ( not a good idea) I am so disappointed

Good product with size issues.

After trying various support stockings I finally decided that the sleeves work best for most of my needs. When I found these online I ordered two pair both size L one 15-20 and the second 20-30 for those days when swelling was more than normal. Both stockings felt correct for the compression rating and both fit my calf just fine but I found out that the 20-30 sleeve was 1.5 inches longer than the 15-20 even though they are both size L. When I called Discount Surgical Stockings to ask why they really had no answer besides that's the way the manufacturer makes them. This makes it very difficult to order the correct sizes. I would think that quality control would be something important to any online sales site but apparently it's not the case here.

No Foot Unisex Graduated Calf Firm Support stockings 20-30-mmbg

Stocking seemed very well made and very strong, would of loved them I think but they were to long I know where they are suppose to end and they were to long for me,

Excellent quality, long wearing

These footless support stockings are perfect for summer when I want bare feet. I have also bought this style in black, and they wash and wear well. They have good, strong support and are lightweight. The only problem I have is that the Small size is a bit long for a petite person like me. (I'm 5'1".) I either have to pull the bottoms down over my heels (thus negating the feel of no-foot stockings), or else have too much material around my ankles. They would be just perfect if they came in a "short" sizing. I like the price and the quality, but they are just a bit too long for me. I'm keeping them and wearing them anyway.

long for average height person

very large in length, but thw width is plenty tight. I wear a 32 inseam pant, and these calf sleeves fit almost the sam as open toe socks; the bottom band is around the arch of my foot. they actually feel OK this way.

Too long

Product was of good quality but the leg sleeves were too long for my calves...I'm 5'2". It's hard to believe these don't come in different lengths as people legs sure do come in different lengths. I had to return them but the return process was smooth.

Fit well, just a little too long for my leg; but did not puddle at ankle or constrain at knee. Very comfortable.
